“Rolling in The Deep” - Well, to me it sounds like many others I have heard. (Smiling and tapping, Rose really seems to be getting into it.) It’s OK, that’s all. She clearly has got a voice, it’s just nothing new.
“Someone Like You” - Pretty instrument, what is that? A Piano? Very nice! Really, this is so pretty. I still wouldn’t run out to buy it, there just isn’t enough good about it.
“Rumor Has It” - No, not so much. It’s giving me a belly ache, it really is. Ewwww, horrible sound. God she should never play on a Friday.
pocketmonster asked: Thanks for the follow, and I just want to say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this blog. The most quality I've seen in a good while. I looked through some pages and didn't see Adele, wondering if you'd do her album 21. Or Sufjan Stevens' Age of Adz, or even Sia's We Are Born.
Thank you! Nice requests, lets start with Adele and we’ll try to get to the others sometime down the line.
Been a while, but I’m happy to say that Rose was able to do some new reviews for the first time in almost 2 months. Things got pretty rough for her and we appreciate your understanding and the nice messages you sent. We hope to dive into some of the backed up requests, and keep more reviews coming for as long as Rose is still enjoying it and is healthy enough to do them.
“You Are A Tourist” - Oh, yes ok, I can hear that, good. (Tapping her foot) This is very pretty, but very oddly it doesn’t seem like they know quite where to go with it. It’s good though, I would give this a chance. They are certainly trying something nice, I can appreciate that.
“Underneath The Sycamore” - I like his voice a lot. He sounds so jolly, my my! I’m trying to keep up with it… very nice… (tapping her nails). This song seems like a good mixture of what they’re trying to get across, it’s a very funny tune like that.
“Codes And Keys” - Ohhhh!!! I like this even better! Let him say where he came from, that’s important.
Oh well, this has the same rise/fall again, it’s just plain boring, I’ve heard enough.
the-sprawl asked: I absolutely love this blog. My grandmother died of Alzheimer's and reading Rose's reviews of music really brings back good memories of her. She loved music too. Thank you so much for this.
Thank you so much for sharing your story, glad Rose was able to inspire some good memories for you.
“Dog Days Are Over” - You Want to know something? I hear that same instrument from the last band! (The harp in the song is reminding Rose of the Ukulele from Eddie Vedder’s album) It’s the same one, oh just listen, horrible! I am not kidding you. What do they charge for this, a quarter? I wouldn’t give them 25 cents, no, not a perfectly good quarter.
“Cosmic Love” - It doesn’t sound different at all. I suppose someone must like it. Ok, turn it off, thank you.
“Rabbit Heart [Raise It Up]” - I don’t like that beat at all, for starters it has no pull, no meaning to me at all.
Turn it off, thank you for understanding.
“Longing to Belong” - Oh no, I wouldn’t buy this. No, there is nothing to like, it just has that same beat. Well as long as they are selling I wish them good luck.
“Sleeping by Myself” - Why does the music sound so odd? (I tell her it’s all played on a Ukulele,) Well then maybe it’s that I don’t like. Oh, I think it’s terrible. The words, the music, everything. I know how you do with your records but no this is terrible. Yes that is right (referring to the lyrics) he is going to be doing A LOT by himself with this record. Oh my gosh, don’t mail or call him, oh just terrible! It’s such a strange melody, oh my god terrible!
“Can’t Keep” - Oh enough is enough, it’s plain awful.
backtothe-garden asked: This is a really great idea and I'm looking forward to reading more of Rose's opinions
Thank you!
I’ll take this chance to apologize to you all for the lack of updates lately, as you know I have to let Rose set the pace for these reviews, and recently there has been increasingly less frequent periods where she has a well enough frame of mind to last through the 3 or 4 songs that we’ll do per album. Hopefully this gets better, but considering the disease usually the opposite is true, and we’ll have to stop these reviews when we feel it’s no longer in Rose’s best interest.
We’ll keep hoping that’s a long way away.
“Flightless Bird, American Mouth” - It’s cute and quirky. Oh yeah I have heard this, oh yes, very good. This is delicious. I want to see who he is, does he have blue eyes? It’s very wonderfully laid out, but his voice seems slightly cramped.
“Boy with a Coin” - The songs have a certain sound about them even though they are not all alike. I like that, definitely. It has a nice steady flow, it’s good. This is the same band? Wow, so entirely different! Thank you so much for your entertainment.
“Pagan Angel and a Borrowed Car” - This is good driving music. This is a very cute song, very comfortable. Beautiful. Nice beat indeed, it’s fluid. I thought it would be boring me, but it keeps pulling me in, wow. So good!
“Here’s Looking at You, Kid” - In all my years I am living I could never get accustomed to this music. No, I am not going to buy it. What is the name again? Good, I just want to know what not to buy. No, it’s just that it sounds too similar to another tune, it’s just nothing new. There must be something there, I just don’t get it. I can’t get very much out of this.
“Miles Davis and The Cool” - (Rose is tapping her feet) I like the beat of this better, that’s because I am so young! It is a very nice song. This is a more honest song, this feels like a real expression, more from the heart. (Rose is loving the chorus) How true!
“Great Expectations” - It’s sad. It sounds a lot like everything else. It’s nice music, I just don’t find it different. This could be A, B, C or D, there’s no difference. It’s a nice song, just nothing original, but I guess someone told them to sound like this, they’re selling, right? I can’t catch one word and I am trying so hard.
Well that’s the end of that. It was hard for me to catch it, but he did a good job with it.
